Short Film Competition

Kodak Announces Winners of Short Film Competition

At a ceremony in the Café de Paris in London on 31st July, Kodak announced the two winners of its Short Film Competition 2008.  This year’s competition represented a collaboration with the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival; for the first time, it was the audience that voted on the short listed selections for Best Short Film, whereas in previous years’ entries were selected by a judging panel.

Best Short FilmWinner:  Gone Fishing

The winners are as follows:
Best Short Film- Gone Fishing Directed by Chris Jones and produced by Ivan Clements
Best Cinematography- Christopher Ross. Soft, Directed by Simon Ellis and produced by Jane Hooks.

The Kodak Short Film Competition was set up almost a decade ago to help emerging filmmakers break into the features market.

As well as Kodak film stock, the prizes also includes camera hire from Panavision, lighting hire from Panalux final sound mix from Pinewood studios, a tape to film transfer from Kodak an agent contract from Sara Putt Associates and an expenses paid trip to the Dinard (Short film award) Film Festival in France or Camerimage (Cinematography award) Film Festival in Poland.

These two projects along with the additional six in the shortlist will appear on a compilation DVD.

Sam Clark, Education and Emerging Film Makers Manager at Entertainment Imaging, Kodak said, “Kodak is committed to the future of filmmaking and the people involved in it which is why we organise this competition as well as one for Student Commercials. Again this year we had a wealth of well written and creative pieces and we look forward to seeing more work in the future from our winners.”
