Shedding New Light on Darkroom Illumination

Spectral Sensitivity

We take good advantage of this "notch" in the spectral sensitivity of color print and intermediate films. These films are most &quot.htm" at about 590 nanometers, while the eye still has reasonable sensitivity for both rod and cone receptors. Although the ideal darkroom light source for these films would have a pure spectral line at 590 nanometers, we find that the darkroom lighting used in film laboratories today usually falls short of this ideal.
