Shedding New Light on Darkroom Illumination
We take good advantage of this "notch" in the spectral sensitivity of color print and intermediate films. These films are most ".htm" at about 590 nanometers, while the eye still has reasonable sensitivity for both rod and cone receptors. Although the ideal darkroom light source for these films would have a pure spectral line at 590 nanometers, we find that the darkroom lighting used in film laboratories today usually falls short of this ideal.
