Columbia Pictures is currently shooting sequences of The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2 in Kodak’s hometown of Rochester, New York. The comic book sequel is directed by Marc Webb, photographed by Daniel Mindel, ASC, BSC, and is being shot on KODAK VISION3 Color Negative Film.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the cast and crew of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to the hometown of motion picture film,” says Andrew Evenski, president and general manager of Kodak’s Entertainment and Commercial Films Group. “Our company is at the very heart of the entertainment industry, so it’s great to see Rochester have the opportunity to host a little bit of Hollywood here.”

Shooting in Rochester will be done by second unit director of photography Bruce McCleery, who has shot second unit on Star Trek Into Darkness, John Carter, Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol and Super 8, among other credits.

The filmmakers have chosen KODAK VISION3 Color Negative Films 5219, 5213, 5207 and 5203 to capture all the action for the big screen. The choice of Kodak stocks brings the Spider-Man franchise back to celluloid, after The Amazing Spider-Man shot digitally.

Evenski notes that the company remains committed to providing filmmakers a wide range of products. “Filmmakers continue to shoot film, and express a strong desire to have a creative choice for telling stories.  “So much of the history of Hollywood and its movies are recorded on KODAK Film. We expect that to continue well into the future.”

Productions on the horizon shot on Kodak motion picture film also include Star Trek into Darkness, Man of Steel, The Lone Ranger, Sundance-winner Fruitvale Station, as well as The Butler, Noah, Robopocalypse, Cinderella and the remaining three The Hunger Games installments, among many others starting or in production.
