Achieves Kodak Quality AccreditationLondon, (10th January 2007) — Kodak Cinelabs Dubai (KCD) Film Laboratory has achieved accreditation as a member of the Kodak Imagecare Program for its camera negative processing. KCD joins an ever-expanding number of laboratories worldwide admitted to this meticulous quality standard program. The laboratory's achievement was a genuine team effort led by Lab Manager, Richard Lawton. He comments, "Kodak Cinelabs Dubai has been operating for just two and half years. In that time we have seen a remarkable growth in the city of Dubai and in the amount of film shooting that is carried out here. With the economy booming, advertising is also on a high. Local UAE productions and foreign production companies still invariably choose film as the preferred medium for shooting commercials. Kodak set up the lab at the request of the local industry and it is proving to be a big success for negative processing and telecine transfer. Based at the Dubai Media City on the outskirts of the city, KCD sits right in the heart of the film making community. We are a small motion picture film laboratory offering colour negative processing, film cleaning, and telecine transfer services". Most customers definitely prefer to process their negative locally, and avoid the risks that go with shipping unprocessed film from country to country. But this very much depends on the quality of the local lab. Kodak Cinelabs Dubai is the only motion picture lab in the Gulf region and the team is very aware of the processing needs of their customers. They pride themselves on a consistent, high quality service and this has recently been reinforced by the Imagecare Program accreditation. Program membership is a tough goal to achieve and the Kodak technical personal at the Chalon (France) technical centre ensure that labs reach and maintain the highest standards before it is awarded to them. "So after many months of hard work by my skilled and enthusiastic staff, the fine tuning and recording of all the necessary lab procedures and methods required by the Imagecare Program, has paid off and we are very proud to be honoured with this award," he added. Peter Boyce, Business Manager for Kodak Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMA) was also impressed. He said, "The achievement of Kodak Cinelabs Dubai in being accredited and meeting Imagecare Program standards is a major accomplishment and is another example of Kodak's commitment to the Imagecare Program – not only in supporting our lab customers but also in applying its standards ourselves in Kodak operations. I congratulate the team at KCD in this success, knowing that it solidifies the reliability and quality of the lab, which is so important to our filmmaking customers in the region." Membership of the Kodak Imagecare Program continues to expand around the world, reducing the amount of risk involved in production and assisting filmmakers with delivering on time and on budget. Knowing that a laboratory produces work of a consistent high quality means peace of mind for the producer, the director and the cinematographer. Filmmakers go to extraordinary lengths to get that perfect image and laboratories that are members of the Kodak Imagecare Program work hard to ensure it stays that way.
